I never find much pine to cut. Lots of hickory and oak here.
That's all we have here to but I have many acres of pine groves grandpa planted in the 50's so instead of cutting marketable timber into cookies I use the wood with little value.

I say it all the time, a fast saw in pine is a fast saw in oak.
If your comparing one saw to another with the same bar and chain it doesn't matter what your cutting because the fastest saw will still be the fastest saw.

It's easy on a chain too. Lol

Most of the pine I have is short leaf and there not huge but there's a few acres of lob lolly pines that were plated the same time as the other that are huge,48" plus on the stump and extremely tall.

Pine doesn't grow wild, all the timber here is red and white oak with a few hickory.

update: I added some holes into the bottom of the max flow cover thinking I could get more airflow. I tried 1/4" drill bit to start with. Those turned out nice. Then I thought well I'll try 3/8ths on the other side as it's a large space. That didn't work out. So now it's just a big hole.

-----------------------

Anyway so I ran 4 tanks with the filter cover with holes and a new filter.

So attached are pics of 2 filters.

on the left is run with the filter cover with no holes.
on the right is run with the filter cover With my 1/4" holes and large hole.

I think both are very impressive. The one on the right might have a little less build up. And I think it's likely that the difference is just due to the huge hole cut out. ie. I doubt just drilling 1/4" holes would of made the same difference. To sum it up. I'd think hard before modifying the max flow cover.

Got my kit today, was a little liberal with the oil but will measure better next time.

Oil is good and tacky all the around and the fit and finish of the cover is great, I like how it fits the saw tighter than stock. I mean when not click that cover on you can feel the element creating a good seal. I

I think this will be a nice upgrade!!
