Got the cylinder on last night. Modified the oil pump. Have it mostly assembled. Going to finish port matching the muffler and hopefully fire it tonight.

So she seems to run very well and puts out tons of oil. I put a 30" bar on it with Oregon full skip chain. So far my buddy seems impressed with it. We shall see how long it lasts. I wanted to do an 036 build but, they have discontinued them so I'm thinking about doing an 038 for my next build. Would love to do a 200t at some point as it would serve as a very nice limbing machine.

So... I bought an actual stihl. Plan on rebuilding this one with FT parts. Don't worry I didn't pay near that price :)

So is it a 34 or 36 or even a 34s

I had my 036 out yesterday, it’s a stout saw after a few easy mods:)
I do like the 036...
I'm not sure what it is yet... all the plastics are gone. Got my shopping list together but, it's like $140. $46 of that is shipping. Thinking about buying another 660 kit as the 036 parts only adds a couple bucks on the $74 it costs to ship the kit. Someone will eventually want the 660.

A running 036 pro will fetch $600+ here. Prices have gotten insane. I'll probably have close to $300 total into the powerhead but, it will have a lot of new parts in it and modifications. My dad bought his 036 pro from the dealer in 1996 and it is still running strong. My buddy is not so keen on that model as his dad has one and it is difficult to start and not very impressive but, they haven't let me get my hands on it. I believe they are the perfect firewood saw for most of the cutting we do around here. Powerful and light enough to limb with.

The 034s and 036s generally go for 175-250 at the flea market around here.

People tend to snatch them up fairly quickly here. I haven't seen one under $400 that was in decent shape in at least 5 years. On Ebay they tend to fetch a pretty penny. There are two on craigslist right now for $600 and one for $650. I quit going to pawn shops because they rarely have anything I'm interested in for a fair price. Was going to buy the 036 kit but they discontinued them before I could buy one. So I put in an offer on this pos for $180 and the seller accepted.

I have a MOFO ported 360 that is a really nice saw. I like that it has compression release (for re starting when warm).

I also have an 034 in parts in a box. Bought a new OEM piston for it, but lost interest in doing it. Has the front chain adjuster.

That bad boy could probably fetch $500 here haha. Looks like mine has most of the important stuff. Going to turn it into an 036 pro anyways. Plastics and some parts are missing but, not a big deal.
