So I ordered my kit about a month ago and just got it in. Pretty decent shipping time considering all that is going on in the world... I will be documenting my build in this thread. Saw will consist of what came in the kit minus oem wrist pin bearing, hyway pop-up piston, caber rings and dual port muffler. Nothing too crazy... going to use this opportunity to play with porting as I have some new porting tools to play with. My 90 degree piece I got from alliexpress. So on first inspection the crank seals are installed and the case is full of junk. Last kit I ordered the seals were not installed. So pulling them to clean cases and get all the paint over spray out of the case.

Chain tensioner required modification. No big surprise there. The other ones I built had the same issue. Had to shave down pin and make the pocket a little deeper to get it to work properly and sit flush. Got all the paint removed from the inside of the case. So now it's on to cleaning everything and assembling the crankcase.

Cases are together. Came up with about .035 clearance on each side which was about the thickness of a business card folded over twice. Crank spins freely and looks close to center. (Close enough) probably doesn't matter too much.

I like to beat on the cases and crank ends with a rubber mallet.
I didn't have to beat on it. I pulled the pto side with my shim in place and then glued everything and pulled the other half on. Once I got my screws tight it had a very slight bit of drag so I pulled on the flywheel side a little more and it fixed it. Now the weight side falls freely back to the bottom with no assistance. Next is my favorite part... Crank seals. Then I will throw a cylinder on it and a degree wheel and see if I can pull some timing numbers. Caber rings are on the way as well as a 30" bar and chain.

So I finally got around to putting a degree wheel on it. Trying to get some direction on this thing so I'll tell you what I came up with and see what everyone thinks. exhaust open 98 ATDC close 84 ABDC 162° total
Intake open 100 ABDC (80 BTDC) close 80 ATDC 160° total
Transfers 125 ATDC close 55 ABDC 115° total.
Let me know if I messed something up. Checked TDC like 5 times.

What will be the primary use for the saw? I am trying to build a D8 dozer. The fellow that's getting it runs a saw like he is running a sawzall.

Play saw. He already has a built 044 and a stock ms440. Trying to squeeze more juice out of the Farmertec. From what I've seen my port timing looks OK. Just curious where I can make improvements or should I leave it alone and just widen exhaust and Intake and clean up and drop the transfers? Biggest dozer I ran was a d4. My buddy is really into old John deere stuff and has three or four crawlers and I forget how many m's and b's... 720, 730

Squish I measured at .022 and still felt a tad bit of resistance rocking it back and forth. That's with the paper gasket. The steel would probably net me less squish so, I will go with the paper.

Intake port looks like doodoo. Pretty typical. Will do my best to make everything symmetrical. Will probably touch up the band using the sand paper on piston dome method.

About done grinding on it. Tried not to change the timing but, there was a lot of voids with a wall of plating that I wanted to blend. Think I should go wider on the upper transfers?

Best picture I could get of the void on the intake. Not sure if that will be an issue or not. Fuel could possibly pool there.
