I was hoping to contact Bob (Spike60) this week and go get myself a 572 tomorrow but some life issues got in the way and it looks like it'll be late spring or early summer before I can grab one. :(

In the big scheme of things, becoming a grandfather for the first time (mid-April) is trumping my desire for a new saw. I have to travel to Minot, ND to see the little tyke the 1st week of May, so the saw has to wait until I get back home. But I will eventually get one...

Really nice open work location you have there. Pretty country.

You probably haven't had a chance to run both of those chains yet, but I'm sure we'd all like to hear how you'd compare them. Keep us posted if you would. :)

Did have a chance to compare chains this morning. All in all both chains were great cutters. Four testers thought c-85 was fastest , compared toEXL.no timing done only opinions. Bottom line for me is cost difference. Both chains so close and smooth. Saw was 572xpG 20” bar

I was congratulating Mark on having a grandbaby but....... Congrats on the saw also.

It has rained all dang day. I had to coach my sons this morning. I am hoping to cut cookies with the my new say this afternoon. I am hoping to get comfortable that nothing is wrong with it this weekend so I can pull the muffler off Sunday. It will go to Iowa this week.

I cant wait to try some xcut chain.

It is impressive ,but so is exl . So nice this morning cutting stock pile. No sense felling any in swamp, with weather that’s expected,I couldn’t get anything out till summer. Just a note on 572xp .starting has improved one or two pulls ,nice. Anti vibe seems stiffer . Compared to 562 s

Mine came through with c83 (72dl 20”). I ran that for the first tank and a half and then switched to a 24” with EXL. The night I bought the 572 we were running it with the c83 and a 462 with 33rs in the same wood. Both 20”. The c83 feels “free-er” in the cut for lack of a better explanation. It’s a pretty aggressive chain and seems to cut faster than rs but it seemed very smooth and easy to use. So far I like it. I will say I was impressed with the 572 with the 20” c83 setup. It didn’t really feel all that doggy or “un-broken in”. It felt like it was working it’s nuts off with the 24 buried in locust and some ash. Kinda weird cause off the roll EXL doesn’t seem too aggressive to me, so I’m thinking the c83 chain is pretty efficient stuff. Curious what it’s like in another 5 tanks or so.

Finally got a working phone so I can upload pics!

First pic shows how the lever will travel down past the edge of the tank and exposes the edge.

Second pic shows where the hose goes. I forgot to take a pic of the hose actually inside the op lever and I didn’t want to tear it back apart again.

Third pic shows new bottomed out height

Other pics show the difference in the tolerances between the 572 and 562

Appreciate you taking the time, I look forward to your thoughts after a few more tanks and especially on the chain, from what little I got to run the C83 it is close enough to RS that I will be buying more of it, it's half the price for me here of the RS, nothing against RS, just pricing.

Well... To some guys here as a saw runs well, that's good enough. They would get dirty anyway. But I'm not that guy. I want my saw fancy and not looking cheaply made.
That's my 372 last year.

So I got the right 20” bar from redbull, (he didn’t provide the heavy husky one).

I fueled it up and filled the bar oil tank and started it up for the first time. 2 pulls to pop and then 2 more and it was idling.

I didn’t have anything big around to put it in so I went after all the blow down limbs from the fall storms. I was more than a little surprised how it handled despite being slightly porcine I didn’t even think of that for the hour or so I ran it.

The Oiler adjustment the way it came which seemed to be the middle it oiled the 20” bar like the Exxon Valdez. I have to say for this old fart it is a very nice handling saw.

I didn’t think I would consider limbing with it, actually a couple more hours of that it would probably kick my ass.

And she lost half a pound with the Tsumura bar. 17.8 dry.

If it holds up as well as the RS I call it a win for most. I get very good pricing on stihl product so rs is negligibly more than lgx and the same as exl for me but I realize that’s not the norm.

@ABarrick

I see now. This wasn’t what I imagined you describing.

I always consider this completely normal, all my saws show the same casting marks to one degree or the other.

Our casting marks are exactly the same, no doubt they came from the cast.

See picture of my saw attached below.
