Interesting cutting technique, not how I typically see small diameter trees wedged around here. Nice video, thanks for sharing!

I know a couple guy's that do that.
That's hard on the wedges the chain is.

No, that was locally down here in Brewster. My Hancock property does not have any Hickory, and only a few Oaks. It is mostly Ash, Black Cherry and some Hard Maple. However, a lot of the new trees seem to be Black Birch, and more Red Oak are popping up.

Unfortunately my friend who owned that property sold it … it really had some nice trees … large Red Oak, Chestnut Oak, Hard Maple, Hickory and Black Birch. Did most of my firewood cutting and milling there the last couple of years, I will miss that place!

Canada too? My 372xpg locked the crank up yesterday, a new 572 with warranty would be a nice way to finish out logging for the winter.

Another question, does anyone know if the case splitter and the crank install tools for the 372 will work with the 572? Trying to decide if I should just wait for the new saw or tool up and fix this one too.

Not really that much of a competition, so don't worry about which saw hits the market first. IMO, Husky guys will run the Husky and Stihl guys will run the Stihl, cause most users are seriously brand loyal, just like you and I are. There is some crossover between the 2 brands, but most of that falls in between the "45 yard lines" to use a football analotgy. Most users are locked into one or the other and will wait for their favorite regardless of who hits the market first. . It all sounds a little different here on these sites where we all bicker about 3 oz. here and which choke lever is more comfortable for your thumb; important stuff like that. LOL

What's really important is that these new models are fully developed and ready to go when they finally arrive. No teething issues like we all had to deal with on the early 562's and the first generation MS362. The technology of all these new saws is such a huge leap from simpler, earlier designs that many of the changes we've had to deal with could almost have been expected on the first go round. But now that we are seeing the second go round from both companies it really ought to be smoother sailing for both of them.

The challenge for the end users will continue to be on the support side as only 10-20 % of the dealers will be able to properly support this product. Ya can't blame either Husky or Stihl cause they each provide al the resources anyone would need. But you guys all know that so many dealers provided half baked support for chainsaws even before this new technology arrived.

Great post Bob, but I also think there are people out there looking for the newer technology, from either Co, and if their saw gives up the ghost they may just replace it with the one that is available, and looks like you will have the edge in that department.

There are also those who cling to the old technology! What saw(s) (if any) will be discontinued when this one becomes available?

The overlooked and underated 576 probably goes away this year. 372 is supposed to stick around for a year as the 572 gains acceptance. Not sure if the 365 stays stays around with the 372 or not. But that's a lot of 70cc class saws, so some thinning is to be expected. Some guys are already talking about grabbing a couple 372's while they still can. Went through that when the original 372 went away and with the 346. I loaded up on both models before they went away. But ya know, sooner or later you sell the last one. You can stretch it out a bit but when they're all gone the party's over. I'm not planning to bulk up on 372's this time around.

It's a pain for guys whose saws give up the ghost with the new ones just around the corner, like flying pig had happen. If you're anticipating the new model and it's only a month away what do you do in the meantime? But I think in most cases guys own more than one saw so they'll run whatever they have until the new one shows up.

Definitely, I still have a Walkerized 372 here and a 2100 I can log with, so I might just tough it out and use the xpg for a parts supply for the other saw. It’s probably not worth fixing that one.

I think you right from what I could see how he was working that stand of pine. Lol.
Feller buncher sitting there in the landing with what looks like a couple of roadside delimbers also... probably where the piles came from.
No sign of skidders or forwarders. He was probably the skidder operator dropping a few trees during piss breaks.

Yeah I kinda ignored a red flag, it was my fault for sure. Every once in a while when I’d flip it over side to side etc it’s idke rpm would change from almost spinning the chain to almost stalling. I thought it was a carb issue because it didn’t get worse. Lol oops. It seemed to run consistently rich though. I’ll pressure/vac test next time better safe than wrecking a nice saw.
