some things just do not make sense... here in germany you can drive as fast as you want and alcohol is super cheap, barely regulated. You can suck down a whole, uncovered bottle of Snaps (40% stuff) on the street at night without an issue, its allowed. But hunting and guns are strictly regulated, hunting license will cost you easily 3500$ and weeks of theory classes here in germany, minimum age is 18.

Wisconsin recently eliminated the minimum age requirement for deer hunting. You can pull a tag as soon as they cut your umbilical cord now.

Wisconsin has to do something. Numbers of hunters are going down and CWD is popping up all over the place. Lots of people are scared and a great deal of money will be lost if it continues.

Course it does… on the business side it makes sense. You can’t replace the tip you have to buy new bar, more money in their pocket, conversely for the consumer It doesn’t make sense.

I don't know a single person in my area that's in the tree business that replaces bar tips.

They just buy a new bar, myself included.

Yep bars are looked at as a service item, only tip.my dealer replaced in the last 3 yrs was on my tech lite bar.

Really! I have some 28'son the 3rd or 4th tip! And send bars off to get regrooved and straightened when needed! It's only feasable on the longer bars tho. Bore cutting can be hell on tips tho.

I can see where it would be the right thing to do on a expensive long bar, but on the average bar on saws- nope.

Shotguns and rifles are legal here. Pistols only for sport or LE's. Easy to get if ya have land. Otherwise ya have to have a reason. Not too expensive and you can reload your own. Saw it off if ya like, no laws there. Silencers legal for rifles for hunting and land management. Violent crime nearly nonexistant here, tho. So, I don't feel like I have to be armed. But I still have a few guns back in Texas.

Trouble is for most folks those laminated bar rails spread out bad long before the sprocket nose gives up the ghost.
Then alot of half used up chain is also thrown away because they don"t cut crap wobbling between those rails

I think an eastern hardwood faller, who bore cuts every third tree, is going to blow through tips pretty quickly, compared to a firewooder, or a west coast faller who bore cuts rarely. That's going to make a big difference in tip life, and therefore, rail condition when the tip finally goes.

I remember the time a 21" Stihl ES bar with the big 13 T .375 sprocket tip was the favorite for the bore cutting eastern hardwood faller.
But I guess there must not be many of these guys left as Stihl no longer sells that bar.
GOL training made alot of bore cutters out east.
Here in Manitoba with my 18"-20" logging bars I very seldom ever bore cut. Only started doing it more often in arb work for the last 20 years.

Whenever I can, I choose a bar that goes all the way through the cut. I find that burying the tip dramatically increases your chances of jamming up the bar with wood chips. If you have the right equipment, why not use it.

I have one or more saws with 16", 18" 20" 24" 28" and 36" bars and try to bring what I most likely will need to use.

I don’t know if this is off topic, or on target, but I was just looking into these X-force bars that are supposedly coming on all the 572XPs, and Husky only carries sizes 18” and 20”.
Further, it isn’t like the old pro-lite bar with an aluminum center and riveted / laminated steel sides and a replaceable tip, it is just a regular laminated bar without replaceable tip and 6 pins in the sprocket nose (most of their other laminated bars have 4 pins).
A 20” lightweight bar balances really well on a 562xp, but on a 572XP it will be heavier in the rear. Also, it seems odd that they wouldn’t match the saw to a longer, like 24”, bar. The saw is stronger (supposedly) than the old 372XP, and capable of pulling and oiling longer than 20”, so I’m confused why they aren’t properly matching the saw to the bar... or offering an easy upgrade path to a similar longer bar...unless I’m missing something.

Given all of the European market that the 572 will service and the prevalence over there to use a shorter bar and work around the stem 180° if necessary, that's likely their target audience. In the US, with the diversity of wood (and users) there are too' many variables. For my use, an 044/MS440 or a 372xp is a 24" saw that can run anywhere from a 16-28'' bar. 32" just doesn't give me the performance I'm looking for and 28 is pushing it, especially in Hedge.

Having run a 572 at Hedgerow's GTG, I will concur with the earlier assessment, that the 372 is a shade lighter (and definitely cheaper now) than a 572 and simpler to maintain. The 572 seems a tad slower to spool up, but carries more torque and the A/V is outstanding. Having and loving my 562xp, the 572 isn't much heavier, it's feel is instantly familiar and it's similar and different. I really do like the saw, but, for my needs and workflow, when I set down either the 262xp or the 562xp, I'm really grabbing for something at least like a 7900, if not for a 390xp or 395xp saw. Hell, I've only fired up my ported 372 five times in the last three years...

I really want to see a 581 come out and go head to head with stihls 500i and Makita 7900

That would be alright, but I'm looking for the 591/596..., Or, just make it a 599 and be done with it.

I was hoping it would be a oversized 562.

The throttle response seemed decent for a stock saw on the 572 I ran from what I remember. Not as fast as my ported 562.
