I asked this before for the 372 and i got an amazing amount of support and information so...
Its coming up to one year since i bought the 562. Like most of my saws i like to do a top end tear down and check things out.
Question for the veterans who work on these often, what are the areas that you find on the saw that are most commonly the culprit of an air leak?

I will do an air test and make sure she is good, but I was thinking of sealing up the transfer caps up a bit better with motoseal as ive heard they are a problem.
I dont know, but another example would be say if the seals are known to go bad, even if they pass the test, replace them. Things like that.

thanks for your help

The transfer seals are not sold as individual parts, to get replacements you need another cylinder, and when removing the transfers it is possible to break the seals, I have before. If the saw is running fine all I'd do is pop off the muffler and have a look. If it ain't broke don't fix it. That's my $.02

I would think if the the caps screws are tight and they don't leak they will not be a problem. Some of those caps seal were damage by crappy factory work add piss poor qc.

When the crank seals leak it's often caused by bearing cage breakdown.
So I have seen the main seals leak the most often. Uneven cases and oil pump bolts need to be checked along with transfers. A rolled lip on the intake boot, lower strato part has killed more then a few of these...

My personal 550 had that nifty rolled lip.
