550xp Brake band?

A tree service buddy of mine just picked up a 550 i had here to replace the brake band, while he was here he dropped off another 550 with a broken band. I havent heard of anybody having issues, is this most likely the result of the good ol' full speed chainbrake engagement, or a flaw? they werent broken in the same spot fwiw.

I did a little texting with him and he said he uses these up in a tree and frequently engages the brake while the chains spinning at high speed. Same result as frequent kickback would provide tho haha
