Yea, im not impressed with the new stihls, especially the 462 and 500. The cases are so thin that they bust out easily

Actually, its been the hundred thousand 572's that have lost crank bearings that haunt me the most

Ive discovered that rev limited saws are the most prone to cracking the cases, no matter what size, model or brand. This is most often seen with people trying to cut with dull chain, or thinning crews. Lots of full throttle with light or no load, the harmonics just bust out everything and break screws, mufflers and such

In this particular case I’m not sure, but it’s very common for the crankweights on the lobes to not be lined up perfectly. If you look though old threads here you’ll notice it.

If the lobe rotated the amount that the lobes aren’t lined up by, I’d venture to say that you wouldn’t even be able to assemble the cases.

Again, I’m not sure on the 500i, but many models have assymetric crank lobes.

Did you inspect the entire large side bearing?

Something certainly wrong with the sitch. Uncommon to see rust on a connecting rod.

Two V blocks and a dial indicator will show you the truth.

I had to check a solo 681 crank after I welded the pin.

I straightened a 7900 one after pressing in a new bearing and then welded the pin as well. Actually done it 3 times now none have grenaded either lol

It pulled together just fine but turning it over by hand it would not turn free and I have not yet put the seals I knew something wasn't right I tapped it on both sides trying to Center and free to no avail

Do you have a good-sized brass hammer that you can give it a good whack with? Using a punch and a hammer, you're likely not getting enough force to center the crank.

Also there is no play up and down with a connecting rod the normal side to side is fine I found a 500i carcass that had been run over and I think I'm going to buy it for the piston and cylinder and the crankshaft
