New guy here, so sorry for bringing up something that’s probably been covered repeatedly.

After picking up a 545, I’m looking into a 70cc saw for running a longer bar. Would prefer to stick with Husqvarna, mostly because of local dealers. Looks like a 572, 372 XTorq, or even a 372 OE from a supposedly reputable guy in Asia could all be had for close enough to the same price. Any recommendations on which way to go?

Pros of the 372 mostly seem to be slightly lighter weight and maybe more parts availability, while the 572 looks to be built a little more stout with a touch more power? Anything else I’m missing here?

And just a thought, could a 562 effectively live its life with a 24” bar for the occasional 3-4’ tree that needs cleaned up? Would be cheaper and lighter than either 70cc option...

I love my 562 with a 24 inch bar and skip chain, and I have yet to meet someone who doesn't like it. It has had no problem cutting oak with the entire bar buried so I'd say you should consider that as an option. If you feel you'll need a 70cc saw a 372 oe would be my first choice.

I much prefer the OE over the XT
But @huskihl and other's here have ran the 572s
But think of it this way could you ever get a sought after OE again
After these dry up?
A few months ago before the reintroduction of the XT's
Guy's wanted new prices for clapped out saws because the XT's were going to cease production.

I like my 85cc 372, but it's not really practical.

Is it my imagination, or are there several posts that were on here earlier and are now gone?

Yeah. I had this on my browser from lunch and hit refresh just now and some of the posts are gone.

Still wondering what happened to the ~half dozen posts that are now missing from this thread...

Anyone have any ideas?

Anyone care to expound upon why the 372 OE is so widely preferred over the XT if, in fact, the difference in weight is only ~3 ounces, the XT gets more cuts per tank, and the XT has more torque for pulling a longer bar?

I love my 572. It’s the first saw I grab and I have 3 2171’s and 2 2260’s. Which if your not familiar are the same as OE372’s and the 2260 is a small bar mount 562. I’ve never been overly impressed with the 372 x-torque. The 572’s are so smooth, use less fuel just feel better to run

I can assure you that difference is more than 3 ounces. More like a 1/2lb. The OE is noticeably lighter than the XT and 572. Is it a huge difference? Not really. I still prefer the 572 for daily work use over the xt and oe 372’s. It’s just a more comfortable (better balanced/better ergonomics) and more modern saw to use in my opinion. As far as power goes in stock form the 572 is noticeably stronger and more forgiving. As far as ported saws go… all three are good and strong after ported. Modifications kind of add a lot of variables to the playing field though. Lol

I’ve tried to find old threads comparing the OE and XT 372’s. Some say there’s only a few ounces, others say there’s much more. Only thread I could find where someone actually weighed both of them dry showed less than 3 ounces. Is there another documented case of someone weighing both and coming up with a different figure? If so, I’d love to see it. Shipping a 372 OE across the Pacific would be more appealing if it could be proven that the weight difference is substantial.

I’ve run a lot of 372s, both OE, XT and the old XPW top end that was 75 cc. The OE saws were by far and away my preference of the three, but the bigger top ends would sing if somebody knew how to adjust the porting. They are noticeably lighter than the XT saws.

But the 572XP is better. It’s smoother, makes better power and has a rear handle that’s actually been meant to fit a hand, unlike the 372 which was apparently designed for a gorilla’s paws. The only, and I mean only, thing I don’t like is the one piece top cover.
