Alright. I'm at a loss. I've had this happen now twice to my personal 372XP. And I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. So, time to ask. The pump pinion has melted and I'm at a loss as to why. Its rubbing fiercely on something and I dint know what it is. It hasn't taken the pump out yet. Just pop the clutch off and it's a melted mess.

Maybe the sleave thing is to tall? I just know once? Maybe I goofed up. Second? It's time to ask questions.

Is the crank seal in all the way? Or a different collar

There's a thin washer, part # 503 23 00-59, that goes on the bushing, that keeps the pinion at the correct height in relation to the oil pump body. Do you have that washer in there?

Also, check to see that the pinion is a snug (but not tight) fit on the bushing. Sometimes aftermarket pinions are too tight.

Yes sir. That paper thin washer is there. Even that super thin o-ring that goes against the bushing. I just don't know if its because its after market parts and not oem?

So I'll go back to the beginning for my self. Is that bushings supposed to spin? Lube between that and the worm gear? Lube the top between the pump and the worm gear? Sorry. I'm frustrated.

I usually put a couple drops of oil on the inside of the pinion so that it spins freely on the bushing. I also usually oil the pinion threads as well, and I check by
hand to make sure everything spins over well before and after tightening down the oil pump.

I had problems mixing and matching oem and aftermarket parts on one. Either use all from one or the other or the drive was too tight on the bushing.

When I took it apart, the threads were melted and the out of center. So I'm thinking something like oil/dirt got in it and started this. I am taking this apart because oil is leaking pretty good out of it. I need a new supply hose. Perhaps that's the cause?

Does anybody have OEM parts that I can get from them?

537 20 78-07 PUMP PINION
503 42 67-01 OIL HOSE. I'll need 2 if these.
503 77 91-01 SLEEVE

Edit: Ordered from HL supply. I'll overly oil or grease it and pray. Lol. Any tips would be great. Because something so obvious is giving me and my bank act. a headache.
