X-torque are strato charged engines. Think stratify, ie layers. You have two charges of air coming into the cylinder, one with gas and oil, one just plain air.

Lots of differences between x-torque and non. It would probably be easier to tell you what is interchangeable, I believe the list is small.

xpw are 75cc... the others are 71 and 65.

Can't put a xtorq cylinder on a old edition 372. The cases are different on the xtorq and have reliefs for cylinder extensions. Can put a old edition topend on a xtorq though, but not vice versa. The top covers/handlebar/chainbrake are taller on the xtorq to fit over the taller cylinder. Carburetor/intake boot/choke/throttle holder/filter holder are different on the xtorq as well.

Decomps are in different locations too so an xt has it in the cyl cover not for oe.

I can't remember for sure, but when I took apart a xtorq the muffler is the same, but I believe the heat shield is taller too for the taller xtorq cylinder. At some point the oil pump drivers were changed and I tried to see if they interchange but they do not. If the pump was changed then it would probably work on either older or newer saws.

Looks like the drum would have to have 2 cutouts too.

The True XPW came with the 51.4mm top end, also a factory full wrap and factory large bucking spikes, and I believe had the large clutch cover and H.O. oil pump as well.

The XPG was the heated handles version, G = Generator.

Mason waa spot on with the differences between the XP and XT.
