Finally finished the 044 carbed and booted saw.

Was told an 1128 impulse line works perfectly, but it does not. It’s too short.

Wondering if an 038 boot might be easier here. Have to do some measuring on the next one.

Added a Froggy for air flow. Saw runs well.


That is an absolute beast, Al - very nice work.

That reminds me of Shaun's stroker 394/395s.

It seems that the boot is popping off the spark plug. This should be confirmed shortly, as the storm that passed made testing difficult but should provide a lot of test wood.

I ran out of NGK’s and used a new Bosch plug. Bought 50 of ‘em and then realized that they were made of chinesium.

The top electrode on the Bosch is nearly .100 shorter and .001 thinner. The boot spring just doesn’t hold on quite as tight.

Even if I could unscrew and swap out the top electrode, I’ve heard nothing but complaints about the Bosch’s.

All 50 going in the trash. Lesson learned.
