So I decided to crank up the ol' file and give my sons .325 a go. Gotta say I'm not a fan :roto2nuse: Not much room in there to get goin'. I was on tie strap for a while till I got the clearance to finally get to the sweet spot. Go ahead and let me have it...

Only 2 chains didnt have a forward lean in the 3/8LP chain build off that I remember off hand. Those 2 had to be pushed.

The Carlton I had was for a 20 inch bar. Just threw it up there for comparison purposes. Also I thought each contestant had a limit of one entry for work/race ea?

Currently In 66 DL I have (2) Stihl RS, (1)-Oregon LPX. I could order up a Carlton as well. It might be interesting to put the same square geometry / Raker clearances the on all three and let the chips fall where they may.

Try to keep the file on a steady plane as you move it into the cutter, especially on the last couple strokes. This will help to make a cleaner and smaller working corner, along with a more pronounced intersecting line under the cutter and through the point.
Also, try to blow the filing crud off the cutter a bit so the camera don't make optical illusions and misleading shadows.
Good pics of cutters can be a challenge.

My last pic, I'm hesitant to remove anymore tie strap. Do you get similar results?

I think you're fine on the tie strap. I haven't played with working angles so I can't help you there. With what I'm doing I'm not hitting the straps.

Try taking a round file and cleaning the gullets out real well before laying a double bevel file in there. It will help you keep from snagging the straps, which tend to throw off your angles a little..

On a race chain, I don't get the straps, but I do on a work chain.
