Well that looks like it..
But why would Echo put that on the CS500?
It is a full chisel cutter. So it is the same cutter as LPX? Just a different ramp.

Just guessing with the little amount of info on the page. I'd say it's the same cutter just factory ground for more longevity instead of speed.

Then what the heck do I have here??? Help philbert!!

I wouldn't worry about it. It is clearly Oregon chain. You know (or can measure) the pitch and gauge. It is full-chisel chain with low-kickback drive link bumpers - looks like their 'PX' designation. . It is heavily modified/used - probably started out round ground. They mix-and-match all kinds of components to assemble over a hundred different varieties and sequences of chains. Does the original Oregon name matter? Attached is a chart with some of the naming conventions they use.

It did file rather poorly. Never was very fast. At it's best, it was cutting "OK"..

My phone doesn't want to take a good pic of it.

I don't know if it will show, but the profile is different from other chains I have. Seems that I remember the chips being narrower and more pointy when I used the other one I had.

Browser won't open due to redirects, but look at the description for H23:

So is it square or round? What am I dealing with here? "Round full chisel"? "semi-square"? I am genuinely curious as I'm not very knowledgeable on chain. I do know a 3/16 round file doesn't fit it very well.

I've bought many of round chisel that they advertise as square corner (as is the case here on H23) and their round as in semi chisel. JMO.

Round

Round ground full chisel. Sometimes the factory grind isn't right and leaves to much material in the gullet. Clean it up and you'll be gooder.

Just bought a husky h23 chain and a stihl rs.

Here is a h23 that I bought in February of 2015.

With studying the profile of the cutters, I see something I like.

Anyone else?
