So I contacted @Mastermind about purchasing a carb that's been converted to be adjustable on the high side for 3120XP. I did so because it was my understanding he knew and performed the process.
I'm considering buying a new 3120XP, but it's a no go without a fully adjustable carb.
The boss says he's too busy to do the conversion himself, so on his recommendation I'm opening a thread to those he said he has trained to do the conversion.
I need an idea of the carb cost, and
if there are install issues.
Is it a new carb purchase or a core swap deal from the new saw?
It's a new saw I'm looking at , so I want a new carb.
On another subject, is the 272 coil a direct swap to get away from the limited coil? Is there a better black coil to use?
And approximately what would a safe max no load be for this saw?
Not even sure I'm buying the new saw, but without a fully adjustable carb I know I'm not.
I'm open to hearing from those with the carb conversion skills I don't have.

I can tell you first hand that an adjustable carb and 272 coil make the 3120 a different animal. I’ve milled with mine, with .404 x 36, free spooling at 13500-14k with no problem.

IMHO, let Kev do his thing inside the cylinder if that saw is there anyway. @Moparmyway massaged mine. The muffler needs a fair amount of work to uncork it as well.

The AF plate will need some love too with epoxy to allow the use of the adjustable carb.

Hi Doc. Haven't decided for sure if I'm a buyer yet. Should I decide to be, I believe you're right that I've found the carb man.
The rest I think I can do. Not sure about breaking the plating right now should I go through with it. Buying the saw will break me enough. Thanks for the advice and experience. I'll definitely take it into consideration.
