I suppose just subtle improvements to each jug do you think you have found the limit on the 661 or is there still room for improvement

There's always room for improvement. But......everything is a compromise of some sort. Torque or RPM? Fun to run, or lugging power? Durability or all out HP?

There is always compromise, you can't always have your cake and eat it too...especially with engines.
