The 266 I have ran better than a 272 that was here from Bill. Actually both came from Bill. I wouldn't take a 50mm cylinder off it to go to the 272 cylinder.

Absolutely NOTHING wrong with the 50mm jugs, but if you have to buy one anyways the 272 does make more torque IMHO.

I never ran them with more than a 20". The 266 runs so good I've not even thought about pulling it apart.

I have a early 266 SE on my bench right now, a buddy of mine wanted me to " work some magic" on it. I am going to set the squish, open up the muffler (probably add a second port and use a 288 deflector) and smooth out the intake and exhaust. This thing already rips as it is, my buddy was a die hard Stihl head until I let him run this 266. :D
200 series Huskys. :headbang:

Back to this 266/670S thing. So they are a viable alternative to a 272?
And are they enough of a step up from a262?

A 266 is a hotrod. I'm not sure how much better than a 262. To me, a stock 262/266/268 are all close but a little different. A 272 has a little more grunt with longer bars.

A 670 is much like a 268/272

My 266 is heated handle as well. Nice on a cold day.
