Just food for thought. Hyway makes a 357 closed quad port cylinder that is the same bore size as the 359. I had one on a 359g and it was a darn good runner without touching the ports any. I'd like to have one ported and see what it will do......

Damnit kid now I need to get ahold of someone :eusa_doh:

No kiddin! Never knew HyWay made a 47mm 357 style cylinder. Guessing I could get it from from HL supply?

Yes my lad. The one I had only had a bg delete and mm. Thing was stout for basically stock. Cut circles around my stock 357 and 359 both.

I only have experience with the hyway 372bb kits
The one I'm running now is nearly as strong as some of my ported
372s
And much stronger than stock.

I'm gonna look into the 357 and the 372 BB kits. How do the ports look compared to OEM?

I cannot comment on the 372 kits. But the 47mm kits have been very nice. I have not put one on a degree wheel, but haven't gotten a dud yet. They are nicely finished.

Might need to be careful if you go to grind on them. The ones I have tried to didn't like it well. I didn't have a fine enough bit and I chipped off plating when I tried to widen a exh port. So please don't go after it aggressively it won't end well.

Hey David, That one you took too much off the base look just about perfect inside. I think I might run it for a long time and see how it does and maybe run a touch more oil in the gas. Plus, I ground down that extra JB weld and the cylinder sits flat on the cases. And the plating doesn't look too compromised either:).
The extra jb weld is/was there to assist with intake boot sealing. Did you take it all off?
Yeah the second one was good except it was set up for a gasket.

Not oem quality but much better than
The other china stuff.
I never had to clean port edges
Comp is in the 180# range
I'm running two 372 popup bb Kit's and 2 268 popup pistons in a 266 and 268
They run very well in stock jugs.

I've used a couple of the Hyway 357 cylinders, the first one looked great but the transfer ports on the second were angled like it didn't cast right. I only paid $50 a piece for them so I wasn't to disappointed. Stevetheboatguy is right, they chip a little when you grind on them but on mine when I chamfered the ports I was able to smooth the edges out.

Good point Steve. I was thinking of having the base and band cut on my meteor 357 cylinder BUT I did some reading on the meteor top ends and learned they are a pain to machine. Exceptionally hard compared to an OEM cylinder

I can tell you first hand that what you heard was true.

I've had some come in the shop that had disastrous endings.
They are best left to just plunking in a saw as is.

Ordered up a Meteor 359 piston and it should be here sometime next week:). And I have a question for you guys. Do the 60cc saws like longer intake duration or no? I’m thinkin setting my intake around 280* ( 80* timing?). Just want some opinions. Not fishing for your recipes at all.

They can take that much depending on how the rest is laid out.
And happy birthday to you.
