So, was sanding off the squish band, NOT with a belt sander lol, I got about .023” done today. Another .023” to go... I want to get squish with a base gasket (.023” thick) to around .043” so when I drop the gasket, it brings me right to .020” squish.
Im sorry Dan.... I just have to tinker :D:D.

Intake was kinda ugly so I made her perty and squared it off just a bit, cleaned that up along with the lower transfers and the exhaust. Where I think the cylinder is going to end up:
Exhaust: 105-106*
Transfers: 127-128*
Intake: 78-79*
Compression wise, its pulling right around 190 P.S.I right now. 98191863-9BD7-4268-9A39-DF23068983C3.jpeg 594FECF5-A622-4E56-95B0-5E1740E39388.jpeg FB3F2E8F-AC56-4D1B-BA02-392C1B28B603.jpeg F9E3368F-2403-476D-8B91-56EC16A93953.jpeg

Nice kingpin mandrel. What did it come out of?
Tanks lol and I honestly dont know what it came off of. My dad brought up a good point about it being just a touch loose in the bore. Im gonna stop with the makeshift mandrel and have the base and band cut.

Change of course... I did some reading yesterday and I guess the Meteor cylinder bands are harder to cut than an OEM cylinder. So.. I have a couple of 359 cylinders that @David Young sent down to us that have the base and band cut. David said the pule hole was cut into on one of em. Gonna see which one is better and order a Meteor 359 piston and do some port work

If I remember right... the problem was when I was cutting the base. the plating by the transfer inlet was so hard it stopped the cylinder while the mandrel was still spinning and compromised some of the plating in the bore. so you should be able to use it for testing/practice to find your numbers. I think I set them up so you need to make a .010ish gasket to get you where you need to be for squish. I look forward to what you do with them.

Hey David, That one you took too much off the base look just about perfect inside. I think I might run it for a long time and see how it does and maybe run a touch more oil in the gas. Plus, I ground down that extra JB weld and the cylinder sits flat on the cases. And the plating doesn't look too compromised either:).

I'm leanin towards running a touch lower exhaust than my 357 cylinder (103). Here is what I am thinking:

EX: 104*- 105*

TR: 125*/123* (Staggered)

IN: 78*-80*

Gonna do fairly minimal lower work, shooting for a little more torque while trying to gain a little bit of RPMs (if that makes sense). I'm not trying to build a 16 grand WOT hot saw, I want her to have power every where.

Just food for thought. Hyway makes a 357 closed quad port cylinder that is the same bore size as the 359. I had one on a 359g and it was a darn good runner without touching the ports any. I'd like to have one ported and see what it will do......

Damnit kid now I need to get ahold of someone :eusa_doh:

A ported 359 is a killer saw!
