Does that make Glock a Volvo?

I comsider Glock to be the small block Chevy of pistols. It is not perfect, but can do just about anything good enough. Not too spendy and OEM and aftermarket parts abound for it. Anybody can work on one with a minimum of knowledge and tools. You can even build one with no actual Glock or Chevy parts whatsoever.

Interesting story, well, I think so. A lady friend of mine carries a short-barreled Smith and Wesson 357. She recently joined my gun club and I go to the range with her. The way she shoots that 357 revolver is frightening, as in if you were a bad guy, you are in a world of hurt. She has no fear of the recoil, and consistently shoots it better than I see most guys shoot. She wanted a smaller "plastic" gun and bought a striker-fired Glock ( forgive me if they are all striker fired ), and can't shoot that one worth a hoot, probably will sell it. I offered to let her shoot my US Govt issue 1911. Instantly fell in love with it. Pretty sure she's out getting her hands on every 1911 she can just to see what it feels like. I think I've created a monster when I let her shoot the 1911. Now, just send ammo.

A woman that can shoot is a real force to be reckoned with. By comparison, a snub nose .357 is just a noisemaker for me unless its loaded with .38's.

The most obnoxiously loud handgun I've ever shot was a short barreled .357 loaded with 125 jhp bullets over heavy charges of WW296. The muzzle blast was horrific.
A friend of mine had the gun and he could clear the firing line at the range he shot at.

I had a 3" SP-101 for awhile. With factory .357's it wasn't terrible to shoot but not fun either. Had the worst trigger pull I have ever experienced both single and double action which didn't help matters. Got all my money back out of it as a trade on a Marlin 1895.

I had one and hated it. Like you said, the trigger was terrible, even with lighter springs.
My sister has one as well. Hers has Wolff springs in it but she still uses two fingers to shoot it DA, which she does very well. Hers has only had .38 spec ammo through it. It started to misfire earlier this year. When she was up in June, I went through it. There was a ring in every chamber of the cylinder, from shooting .38 wad cutters. It was just enough to occasionally keep a round from fully seating. When the hammer dropped on a cartridge, it moved into the cylinder just enough to cause a light strike. I used pieces of chore boy copper scrouring pad, wrapped around a brass brush on a cleaning rod, chucked into a cordless drill to finally get it all out.

I have the snub nose DA only SP-101 in 357. If i don't hit the perp i figure the muzzle flash will blind them.

Colt Clark Extra long-slide 45.jpg
Colt long-slide built by Jim Clark Sr. in 1964. It'll shoot in the same hole if you can hold it. Clark guns know how to build custom 1911's.

Last Saturday I showed my friend how to shoot pistols
She'd never fired a gun before.
The first thing she shot was a airweight .38 with laser her mom got her.
She absolutely hated it and did not do well
Then I taught her the safety's and how to shoot a tx .22 canik sc 9mm,Taurus g3c 9mm and a SDS 1911 .45IMG_20211120_154540.jpg
After learning the trigger and sights
She put 6 through the same ragged hole

She's going to buy a lightweight commander this week she said.IMG_20211120_114343.jpg
I really like these inexpensive 1911s
Well made and accurate
I'm trying to find the commander version of this one.

Been my EDC for over 12 years. Uncle had a 2011 I learned to shoot and it has been all downhill from there.

Hard to love anything else after a 1911
