I'm guessing, but I already planned on doing some testing to confirm. Actually have everything I need, all ready to go, was just waiting for the time.

I think almost everyone has presumed the difference in performance from 460 to 461 (notably toque) is due to the transfers, but I believe this is not the major reason. They are over looking something more obvious.

FYI, here is the bottom of a 461 cylinder, it is fed from the bottom and initially only splits right & left (2 ways):

OK, I'll be more direct:

What component can you take off of a 461 that will make your 460 run noticeably stronger?

We have a winner.

I put a 461 carb on one of my ported 460s and the difference surprised me, a lot!

I'm planning on conducting some tests, with the stock HD-16 carb, an HD-11 (044 arctic with a richer jet), and the HD-50 (461 carb) on both an 044 and a ported 460. My money is on the HD-50, but I hear the HD-11s also do very well.

So, we must do some testing! Soon!

I got a hd11 when I decided to build a hybrid. I was told that was the best one for that build

Maybe I will test that also, problem is I put a 461 control lever in the Hybrid when I installed the HD-50 carb, so switching carbs would be tough.

Conversely, I switched the choke lever on the HD-50 I put in the ported 460, so I can easily swap that carb with the other carbs that use the 440/460 control lever.

I think both the HD-11 and HD-50 will out perform the HD-16 (stock on many 460s), but I would be very surprised if the HD-11 makes my ported 460 run better than it does with the HD-50, but we will see, I have em all now.

I've heard some say they are a gain and others said they seen no difference

Awesome I'd be interested in the test
