084 coil

Any known fixes for an 084 coil? Yesterday it worked and today it doesn't. I installed a coil from a different saw with one bolt hole lined up and I have spark, so I know its the coil

None that I've seen.

It depends- if you have the two-piece coil, a lot of the time it will be the trigger unit that's bad. If it's a one-piece coil, then likely the whole thing is bad. Famous Hotsaw guru Dennis Cahoon fixed his 084 once using an 064 coil. He just ground the laminates to match the profile of the larger flywheel.

I put a 2 hole 066 coil in it with only one screw and it runs, but it was just to check it. Another 066 coil I have has 3 holes. I might try to get 2 of those to match up. The 084 has 3 screw locations, but with a 2 screw coil
