I have a 084 that powers a saw mill with a 5' bar. It has what I believe to be a slight air leak, but it's in reverse of normal. It seems to leak when upright. I'll dial in the carb and it runs and idles perfect. Then when on my mill with power head on its side it seems to get super rich to the point it will stall bc of to slow idle speed.

Has anyone experienced a leak like that, or is there something else I should be checking. Also are crank seals still readily available for the 084? I don't want aftermarket.

It's all guessing until you put a gauge on it. I personally don't put a lot of stock in saw position. Other factors can cause that.

Being a milling saw I'm gonna take it down and put new rubber parts in and crank seals anyway. The saw runs great other than the change in idle. It doesn't lean out under WOT or anything of that nature.

I guess next week I need to price a pressure/vacuum with my snap on dealer....

I just got done going through my 088 because of a similar problem. Ended up being some of the shellac they used to seal the carb welch plugs was floating around. I figured that was it when I found it. But figured it was old enough to change out the rubber parts. Glad I did, the lower fuel hose was getting iffy.
