I know asking this is like opening a can of worms but I am just curious who has actually used them and have you seen any kind of good long term results from any of the companies making them? I have seen 2-3 china cranks inside builds that were mostly Chinese. It's unknown if the cranks failed due to other shrapnel or whether the crank going bad was the initial cause of saw failure...

If you don't have hands on experience... DON'T reply!

I already understand that going all OEM would be the best way to go but when you have 3-4 saws with DOA cranks that makes things a little different. The rest of the parts will be high quality Meteor or OEM top ends and OEM bearings because I already have them on hand.

Where is Randy??? @Mastermind

I'm here brother.

I've used a few........but the one I felt best about was packaged as a Raisman Platt part. I used it in @junkman 's MS660 and he's been milling with it ever since. @Gentleman can tell us more about where the better ones are made.

Side note: I don't see Raisman 066/660 cranks on HLS or ebay. :frown:

The MS660 cranks we have come from New West in Taiwan. The quality seems a lot better than the Chinese. I'll send one to you @Black Dog Chainsaw if you want to test it and report back here.
I don't buy any 066 cranks from China.
I can always get some ordered from Raisman if anyone wants them.

@Gentleman , can you get 066 New West cylinders?
Of course. I have some of their 066 BBN cylinder in stock but I can always order anything. They make a good cylinder. It's hard to sell though being around 3 times more expensive than the Chinese.
@Definitive Dave may have some in stock.

Their standard bore 066 jug is the best I've seen.

You can always justify another saw.

Taiwan is a huge step up from China in quality control. Suzuki's small quads were made there.

I was handed a China crank to put in a 660 a year and a half ago. It is still running for the tree service that bought it. The guy buying the parts is notoriously cheap... saw was not ported or anything though.

@Gentleman

How about 660 case 1/2’s? It’s been very difficult for anyone to let loose of OEM cases. I’ve been leery about eBay units.

I have said this before about Tiawan parts before.(AKA Hyway)
Was hounded by saying they are just part of China that lost the war.
Am I wrong??

My experience is that Taiwan parts and tools are superior to all Chinese and many lower end US products.
