Maybe way out there on this one so if it's a retard let it be known...... what if you fabbed up a steel intake maybe like the hydro form tuned pipes there's a YouTube video ....... and then just clearances the air box to slow it to move within it the filter would have to mount direct to the carb filter cover the same I see that WB carb has hose barbs so that all works throttle linkage could get wonky if you really lean on it ......... worth thought or am I out in left field ??

I think it could work. I know it could work with a throttle cable.

I would almost rather have rigid mounts than deal with fitting a cable ........ this is the part where someone comes along with and easy way to do the cable thing

Unless you have a 088 carb housing to cut the boot flange from you have to make it like I did, I used plate steel so it would be very easy to weld a neck on it and hook the 2 necks with a piece of rubber hose.
Be easier than making plates to seal the boot. I'm gonna do it tomorrow.

I cut the throttle linkage off a wj and soldered it on the wb shaft,a little bend to the rod is all you need.
Have to use fuel line for a impulse line because the oem ain't long enough.
Gotta change the 90 fuel nipple that comes with the wb out for a wj one.
If you use a 088 boot you have to hook it up with the tank loose or you will have hell. It's still not easy

Unless I'm totally misunderstanding this, a fully rigid intake "boot" would probably get torn up with the vibration from the saw. The rubber boot, or in Jason's case, the hose, has its own built in AV system due to its inherent flexibility.

What about both?

Hard machined aluminum boot portion on the intake box and flexible hose to the intake port?

You went outside the chainsaw realm for the carb, now we just gotta find a boot.

There's gotta be a rubber 1' flex intake somewhere.

I think this and what Al was saying would work great. Then you can set your angle how ever you would like to give the best flow. As long as there is enough room.

Stihl dealers are all mean as hell.

This is true. Anytime I ask my dealer for something they don't stock they look at me like I have two heads. Lord bless if you need an outside spike or roller chain catcher. Then you are speaking a different language.

You need to trade your dealer in too.

Mine is sending me some of those now.

My stihl dealers are both just like that. It's probably what got me into old poulans and huskies.

I was sorta messing with a Stihl dealer that is reading along with us here. lol

I've got three Stihl dealers that I do a bunch of business with, and they are all awesome. Great guys, salt of the earth types.

If you need any small parts my friend, you just let me know. I can get anything you need.
