Hi Lads,
It’s cheeky of me but I thought I’d chance my arm, is someone able to search up a serial number from an 044 for me?
12046930
I’m curious to see how far she’s come, greetings from Ireland.
Thanks in advance
I had an early 044 serial 120259288. Emailed Stihl once about it and all they could tell me is that it’s was manufactured 4th quarter (October-December) of 1989

I used the contact form through the Stihl USA website and chose the subject ‘Technical Question’. This was in 2020.
‘This serial number is too old to still be actively maintained in our serialized production records. Our serialized production records only go back to 1999 due to document retention policies as per the ISO 9001 standard with which we must comply to maintain certification.
Serial number breaks derived from engineering change documentation executed during production of the 044 indicate this chainsaw was manufactured in the 4th quarter (October-December) of 1989.
Thank you for contacting STIHL. The 090 was manufactured and sold in the US in a few variations from 1968-1994. Serial numbers produced before 2002 are hit or miss to track based on the database. There is not a way to definitively tell when a particular unit was produced before 2002.
