So I picked up a box of miscellaneous 044/440 stuff from @Definitive Dave yesterday at the gtg. Despite having lots of various and extensive expertise helping me sort parts on and off (thanks a ton guys!!!), it's still mish mosh parts.

As I read on the 044/440 lineage, I see there are many many variations in parts over the years. I'm certain to have some pieces that aren't going to cooperate. We never figured out for 100% certain if my crank is a 10mm or 12mm either, which will certainly dictate the direction I go with it. In any case, I may just build the 044 and enjoy it for a bit before considering a top end change?

I'll get the tub out of the car momentarily and start laying out some parts and snapping pictures.

I've already started a list of needed parts. This could get interesting.

10 vs 12 is the wrist pin diameter I think.

Do you have a bearing and pin?

Subbed. One of my most favorite saws to build and run.

You got yourself into this lol! I'll have so many questions.

This will be good :). I'll be watching!!

It will...if it kills me lol.

I don't. I'm still missing loads of smalls and some bigger pieces too. It's gonna be a jigsaw puzzle that needs reverse engineered first.

No problem with answering questions on my part although most of my replies are rather long and often contain far too many small details. I often get the TLDR rating...LOL

The 10 mm crank should have a pin bearing bore close to .545 in the small end of the rod and for the 12 mm crank that bore should be close to .585.

Somebody has the CAD
:monoloco:

They say the first sign of addiction is denial. That isn't true. And I don't have a problem.

I'll have to borrow my buddy's calipers.

Subbed to just watch and learn... enjoy your puzzle!

I will. Building my huztl 660 was a blast, so I figured it was time for something more interesting.

To the op....I have a full china 440 build on my youtube channel. It's not perfect. .but it's a start to helping you fit the pieces together.

I'll try to set aside eight or nine hours to watch it. Lol...I kid.

Sounds like you'll be having some fun.

For sure.

I'll grab those pics momentarily. I have a feeling the first big step, aside from cleaning the small parts, will be cleanup of the freshly-powdercoated case halves. I think some of the surfaces with powder need to be shiny smooth metal.

Confirmed my suspicions with the mismatched part numbers. The case halves don't align properly. The front cylinder mating surface sits high on the PTO side...*s-word.
