Dan, I just ordered some of them to try, how do you like them?

I have been running HD-2 s on my 044/440/046/460 saws, and they generally provide a good performance improvement over the older filter styles.

But I have ordered the pleated AM ones to see how they work.

Angelo, just go to ebay & search stihl MS 460 air filter, or Huztl Stihl MS 460 air filter, and they should come up on the first page.

Mike I did a comparison on the dyno here.
Which filter is best? MS460

But aside from that, in my experience the hd2 sucks! Like Kevin said, more surface area on these and they knock out easier.

With all this talk here, and the photos, would the maxflo filter provide better protection and allow for better breathing?

IMHO, these pleated filters are great for a work saw. If you were racing, I'd go max flow.

I realize there is a thread for maxflo already and I don't want to blend the two, but with all the talk about not having to clean it for multiple tanks, I just thought that the maxflo would be a better option for a work filter. Plus the better filtration. Am I wrong in my thinking?

Seeing all the crap that came out if the filter that he banged out scares me a little.

The hd2 is flat so limited surface area. The pleated may fill up inside but still maintains more surface area than the hd2.
Besides what's it take to knock the filter out now and then. The maxflow needs to be washed dried and reoiled.

OK. Just the look of that scares me though. I always want the best for my saws. Gotta take care of and respect the tools. Lol
