026 worth $100?

I went by one of my suppliers today to pick some things up. He deals in industrial/mining equipment and caters to loggers as well (no new saws, mostly hydraulic oil, chokers, etc). I walked to his "Junk Pile" and there sat an early 026 red lever/metal tag saw. I picked it up, took it outside and she fired on the third pull. I asked how much for it and he said $100. I didn't have time to look closer, but it felt strong. He said I could pull the muffler and look at the piston. Even if it needs a P&C, would it be worth it? It needs a cleaning and has been used, but is in pretty good shape overall. Thoughts?

He sat it in his office. He just bought a bunch of stuff from a hardware store that went out of business. Not sure if they were a dealer or what. I will be back next week to check it out better. Trying to get him to pull the muffler and send me a pic tomorrow. The chain catch was even intact.

They seem to be sought after saws. What's the deal with the red lever? If I had the saw building experience as most of you all, it would be a no brainier. I guess if it needs major work, I can always learn on it. How many CCs is the 026?

49 cc 44 mm piston the red is suppose to me early model but really it doesnt matter

Thats whats you tell the sellar. You know to knock it down some.

Grab it, even if it has a scored piston. Lost count of the numbers of them I have rebuilt but its more than 40, lots of aftermarket parts for them if you need to go that route. I try to use only OEM for the running mechanical parts but the AM plastics and carbs have worked great on more than a few I built.

The red means it must have been on a firetruck. Lol.
