Alright, so I finally have some replacement seals. From looking around and cleaning this up, I'm pretty sure it was a sealant failure.
The new seals have a "flange" that rides in the groove of the cylinder and crankcase cover. Should there be sealant where the flange sits, just where the...
Well thanks for all the responses here. I wasn't sure how much traction it would get, but very much appreciate having more minds put together to help me figure things out.
This is a 1986. I don't have a photo handy, but will snap one later today or this weekend and will put it up here.
The...
This one was used mostly as a utility wheeler by the original owner, then passed to my BIL that was...less than kind to it. Apparently he didn't realize that the screen in the air box is just there to hold an actual foam filter... And he tried to fix an issue with the starter clutch by taking...
Just curious if anyone here has a go-to forum that they would use for ATV questions/information.
We were given an older Yamaha Moto4 by a family member a few years back, and it needed some TLC. Its up and running again, but makes a kind of knocking or clunking in the rear when you ride over...
Side note: Apparently a bunch of parts for this saw (and the Husky equivalent) have recently gone NLA. Tried to order several things and then got a kick back that they weren't something that could be ordered. I think Im in good shape based on some eBay finds, but frustrating to have to wait...
Sounds like there could be something interfering with the recoil and your flywheel interface. If the flywheel got loose and sheared the key, that could explain a bunch of your issues all at once.
Can you check the flywheel? Wondering if your key isn't there anymore and so your timing is off?
If you pull the valve cover are your valves opening and closing as you pull it over?
Thank you!
And thanks for the picture, that's helpful. I think on my saw those notches hold the edges of the seals, and the bearings ride just inside of those. (the IPL shows there are two different configurations of bearings/seals, mine is the one with separate pieces) I guess I can try to...
Update after lunch.
Pulled the gear off. a 3/8" fitting fit, but only a few threads. That and some screwdriver action seemed to help, will need to drive it back on more carefully.
Seals appear to have been leaking. I think someone put the sealant on them also, and it doesn't look like it...
I actually was just watching those same videos. Wasn't sure if it was the same setup, so Ill need to see what I have for fittings in the random pile in the basement. Any thoughts on putting it back on there in the right spot?
From what I have found, this is similar to a Husky 41/141, don't...
Thanks for the reply!
Here is a photo that I took before I pulled everything apart. You can see the sealant at 2 and 9 by the crank. I think this uses the separate seals and bearings, but will need to open it up to confirm.
I'm going to buy the kit that has the intake boot, carb adapter and...
Evening everyone.
I had posted over in the Poulan thread, but figured I would ask here in the general forum also. (sorry that its long winded, wanted to get as much info as might be helpful out there)
I picked up a PP295 for a few bucks at a flea market last fall, and recently tore into it...
Well, I spoke too soon.
Im pretty sure I have an air leak. It wouldn't idle down for me yesterday while trying to just make a couple cuts, and then today was trying to drop a few big sumac and it was all over. Kept wanting the L needle out more and more to keep it idling. Which is probably...
Well, I managed to find enough time to get the PP295 put back together. Carb needed a cleaning (sawdust in the screen), a kit for stiff diaphragms, new AF and new fuel lines. What a pain these are to reassemble! (I am mostly used to Echo/Sthil stuff) Anyway, it was popping off with a squirt...
