I do not. Years ago when I started burning apple, I was told I'd have to use veg oil for the bar for food use. I never pursued it after that. And I do have a 34T splitter. Apple is very stringy.

Does anyone have a video of how the timber in the USA splits?
It all seems to be so straight sided and uniform.
The timber in my pic above was a nightmare. Some of it wound not crack even after repeated heavy blows and I had to section it up with a saw.

I still have a couple bits, I will have to get a video of it.
That small pile took me 8 hours days and I am sore!

Nasty, hard, cranky, interlocked, timber that you would think is fed superglue

Not all wood found in the America's splits easy, the rest of the story of the picture above with the wedge, hammer and splitting mall, is that I had to give up and borrow a 22 ton hydraulic splitter, it did not much like it either.

Worked surprisingly well, making another this year. Only difference being it's full of edgings and cut offs from the sawmill. I throw a tarp over just before snowfall, to keep it from icing up and such.

It's(snow) fun to play in, not so much to work in. My buddy showed up and we put up a bit this morning. What started out as throwing wood into a pile, turned into an impromptu holz hausen. Will be the extra pile in case of sever cold, so I don't have to be out there cutting in the freezing cold. Another few hour session and this one will be done.

@Brewz , Saw this today and thought of this thread. Believe this to be in BC Canada. Watch how he gives the ax a flip right at the point of contact.

That is the way my daddy taught me to split wood years ago. You twist the ax handle just when you hit the block and it will pop open and your ax will not go in the dirt. Which he would whoop my ass for! But I ( highly ) recommend to where some kind of shoes. As the ax can fly any where while doing this. Esp. on wood that does not pop open very easy. It mostly flies out of your hand to the right and sideways at a high rate of speed, as I know too well.
