Cordless tools are the best thing to happen since cars were invented, with that said I am getting away from them. batteries cost more than a set of them. I hate it when I run out of power on a jobsite. You have to have electricity to charge the batteries anyway so I just take an electrical one. They do have their place I'm sure, just not for me.

I always had 3 or 4 batteries too, they would only last about three years then it would cost more to buy new ones than just buying a whole set of drills and batteries. But I don't use them much in the winter and that's probably what kills them faster.

If you buy rigid brand through the Home Depot you get a free lifetime service agreement that includes batteries. I only get 2.5 years out of my m12 batteries... Said screw it and bought all rigid replacements.

Dealt is coming out with a new flex-volt battery that can automatically switch between parallel and series. So you can get 60v out of a regular sized battery pack. And you can run two at a time... 120 volts cordless :) :)

They are gunna have a cordless miter and table saw that can run corded or cordless. If they get good reviews after they are out I'm going to get them. Pretty much the last two tools I need to be able to run a cordless job site.

Yup, can't wait to take delivery of my FlexVolt angle grinder and reciprocating saw! I'm already invested in the 20v Max line, so this should be sweeet!

Here's my latest 20v acquisition.

yup, SDS+
I've got two, both electric though, always wanted a cordless one. One old school Milwaukee and a fairly new Makita HR2641X1, 3-mode, SDS Plus. The Makita came with a bonus 4 1/2" angle grinder, both for $175 out the door, shipped...figured what the hell and bought it. It's been a helluva rotary drill.

Wow, that's a deal and a half! I recently bought a little Bosch 12v mini angle grinder that rocks. NAINA, so I bought it on Ebay from HK.

I bought a bunch of Makita brushless 18v lithium ion tools awhile back. Very satisfied with them. Light years ahead of the older Dewalt ni cad tools I ran before.

I have Milwaukee, both the new M18 lithium tools and the older 18 volt NiCad tools.... old stuff seems to be built much heavier duty than the new stuff, but its also much heavier and runtime is quite a bit less than the lithium...
but none of the big names (dewalt, Milwaukee etc.) compare to Hilti! my buddy is an electrician and he has mostly 14.4 volt lithium tools and they will walk circles around my Milwaukee stuff both in power and runtime....but they also cost 4x what most others cost...
Hilti makes badass tools.

My best friend is a Master Electrician in Wichita. He has a few Hilti tools, including a nasty hammer drill and (mini-jackhammer?). The drill is amazing in concrete, stone and brick and the other tool the almost jackhammer thing (forgetting the proper term) is fantastic when you need to hammer in an 8' long, 3/4-1" ground rod to where there's only about 4" sticking out of the ground. We're putting up a 38' 2 & 10m antenna tower on my ground and sank 4x lightning arrester ground rods in with the tool. It was beautiful as compared to using a sledge hammer...

Hey @CR500 , sorry I just saw this.
It wasn't cheap, but already invested in Bosch 12v line , so I had to have it, LOL!

I bought it on eBay, South Korea seller. Shipped quickly, no issues. It's listed for $149, but he accepted my offer of $135.

All the big boys make really nice impacts, imo. Dewalt, Makita, Milwaukee are probably all in the same ballpark. You might want to think about what other cordless tools you may purchase in the future, see what fits the bill. That way you can try to stay in one or two battery platforms. That new Dewalt FlexVolt stuff coming out looks beastly!

Don't forget IR.... the1/2 may be brushed but was on par for power.

I ordered the new IR Brushless 3/8 for work and am pumped about 500 ft lbs of reverse torque.

Only thing against IR is lineup.

Good durable tools for the technician world but not much forward homeowners compared to Dewalt and Etc....

Sent from my non internal combustion device.
