Which one, 2159, 590 or 2165

2159 if I'm cutting 18" wood and smaller, 2165 if its larger wood.

I would say the 2159 just because I personally never ran a 590 or a stock 2165/365

• The 2159 is a pretty solid runner with some basic mods, and even better when ported and the squish/ base is cut.

Having run all 3 of those........

2159 probably the most user friendly and versatile at the end of the day.

590 is solid reliable but heavy for the power stock.

2165 is probably more desirable and definitely more power. But most the time a 2159 will hang with it. Buy a big advantage goes to the 2165 for the inboard clutch. If you pinch a 2159 bad it's a bytch if you don't have a way to get it unpinched. That said I'd still go with the 2159. I'm a wussy and the 2159 is easier on my body at the end of the day.

I guess it would boil down to perfered bar length too. I like 28 inch bars, and from first hand experience, a small mount saw sucks with a 28, not to mention hard to find a small butt 28 inch! 2165 will run a 28 just fine out west here.

I’ll probably buy all 3, I have ported 2159 and 2165. I’m just curious how the 590 would compare. It is a bit heavy for what it is by the stats.

Ported 2159 is still my favorite saw.

Depends what your doing. But for an all around saw can't really go wrong with 2159 out of those 3. Can't go wrong with any of them really. 590's are good saws. They wake up quite a bit with minor mods.

2165 will absolutely smoke the other two like barbecue unless it’s in poor condition. That said… it depends on what your intended use for the saw is. If your using it for felling the 2165 will do a lot better than the other two. Limbing/small firewood I’d go with the 2159 just cause it’s just a tad lighter and more compact.

I have a @Red97 ported 590, I grab it over my Makita 6421 every time. Thus the 6421 is slated to become another 7900.

Bucking up some logs, EHP 2159 and CFB 2172.
I just picked up the versacut bar, not sure there is any difference when just bucking logs. I’m sure it will be noticeable when carrying it around for a day.
