Building an 036. This one will start life with a set of farmertec cases, OEM crankshaft and cylinder. It will have a tillitson carb and an OEM fuel tank/ handle housing. Hope to get started soon on porting.

I hope you bring that one to the GTG. That's awesome looking.

My plan is to have it at the April 4 GTG, if I have to borrow parts from another saw I will. Oil pump and some runner grommets are holding me up right now, I hope to have it ported in time.

I wonder how practical it would be to mask off an area, to not be be colored by the dye? Something similar to how people apply the masking coatings to circuit boards when they etch them.
Logos or bat designs left in the original plastics color?

edit: die v dye. Always good to double check what word spellcheck inserts for your fumbling fingers.

I think the dye would bleed through from the sides as it penetrates the plastic. But I have never tried it.
When I did my Hybrid tank I tried to mask off the translucent fuel tank. The dye stayed crisp at the edges of the tape but bled at the seams so I think if you had a single layer decal it would work. I stuck the tank back in the dye and just made it all black.

I haven’t read all this thread, I could answer your question with a pic.
Then you would maybe ask me a few questions but yes the decal stopped the dye but as you can see it leaked in from the lower side:rolleyes: Maybe a bit of sealer on t edge....??? But probably it was the sticker not fixed very well in the beginning
