Second 2050 I’m working on.

I had built this 2050 for a friend a while ago. He said he had no use for it anymore. I gave him a few bucks for it.
Turns out he had no use because he burned it down.

Is that just a bit of sealer in the hole, on the flywheel side forward/front bolt hole or are the threads a little funny?
Bear in mind that my eyes are goofy now, so sometimes the digital photos can look strange to me.
Just a little bit of sealer. Ran a cylinder bolt in all of the holes and they are ok.

I’ve been noticing the symptoms you’re having since putting this together. Are you sure that the impulse notch you made in the 350 bearing cup is deep enough? It looks like the 346 cylinder extension covers it up, like the notch should be ground down further into the cup toward the case

@huskihl

It's definitely getting pulse. Definitely an air leak as I can spray brake cleaner around the cylinder base and stall it. Gasket arrived in the mail today, and I'm swinging by ace hardware this evening on my way home for new cylinder to bearing cap screws. The symptoms I'm having are difficult to tune and not holding a tune.

@WillG Last one of those adapter plates I messed with was warped from new. I took and trued it up on a piece of glass with sticky sandpaper on it. Made it nice and flat and no leaks.

340/346 resealed, bearing cap surfaced, top end back on. Sealed the cap to tank with MotoSeal and the cylinder base gasket got a skim coat of Permatex #2. Gonna finish reassembling after dinner and then let everything cure till the weekend.

Been sanding and filing and cleaning and inspecting this 394.

Upper ring locating pin fell out. The hole is bagged from being pushed by the ring imo.

Gasket deleted this saw and the jug bottomed out. Fixed that wif a file then went back to wet sanding with scotch brite again... with cleanser this time to get the gunk out of the ports.
Jug has this transfer gummy *s-word all through it. It comes right off the plating.
Filed down all the parting lines in the jug casing. So far so good going over this thing. If it needs just a piston and freshening up I'm good with that. Cases are good. No work required but cleaning. Someone has been in there grinding.

Just kidding. She had a wicked tick. Replaced the exhaust gaskets, no better. Tore back apart and dug deeper. Found it.

Take the heads to the machine shop and have them resurfaced and a valve job done. If that is a 25 or 27 HP Kohler has an updated head gasket.
