Ran 5 tanks through the 562xp with the Amsoil Dominator on a 55" Redoak at the base. Cut the tree up and limbed and then stumped the base close to the ground. Popped the muffler this morning to take a look and looked pretty clean but not too impressed with the looks otherwise. Ill give it awhile longer before a teardown

Api rating. Did my homework, just curious as to quality as many products which claim to work for mult things don’t do them well. I’d prefer to use one oil so I dont have a mix up (haha) and keep storage simple, but am no expert in engines.

I was running the vp 40:1 premix. It was great stuff, smelled good to. But it got to expensive, especially after purchasing a Husqvarna bts580 blower. Between that and the jred 930 they suck it down. I went back to 93ethonol and Husqvarna xp+ or whatever the latest is called. I’m reel impressed. I tor down my 340-346xp today and everything was well covered in oil.

I can't remember if I checked this one. I think I would have, and it must have been right.

Reading through this beast of a thread a little bit at a time. Maybe in 2 years I'll be through it.

Picked up some Quaker State 2 cycle air cooled at menards for $3.53 a quart. Only FB rated but I'm sure the saw won't care at 32:1. Any negative opinions on this stuff before I go back to buy more?

It will be fine the Stihl ultra is only fb rated and as much as people hate it saws survive just fine at 50:1 on it

The price is right. I’d use it I like 32:1 for that same reason. A little extra oil is insurance in my opinion

The fb is plenty adequate at 50:1 even for firewood, if I was milling I’d run 3 oz /gallon which is 42:1 because it works out well with my gallon jugs and a measuring container. Otherwise buying small 1
Gallon mix oil bottles I’d buy the 40:1 poulan oil or something like it.

I prefer 40:1 with Echo Red Armor oil and 93 octane. No ill effects noted since I've started using it earlier this year. Been using it in my Shindaiwa T235, Echo PB8010T and my saws. No issues even in the older stuff as well.

I just checked back in on this long drawn out thread. As far as FB oil, I ran Pennzoil two-stroke in my desert racer at 32-1 back in the 70s. I suppose the rating was probably less than FA back then. In any case, the oil is much better now.

No problems with steady state high RPM up hot desert sand washes without the benefit of fan cooling - for hours! So yeah, FB in a firewood saw will be just fine...
