With the HD and HD2 filters there is a coarse foam insert that goes inside of the filter. What’s it’s purpose? Debating if I need to buy some as they’re missing.

Not all saws used the foam insert, 046, 460, 461, for example have a hard plastic piece that snaps on the air horn to prevent spit back, pretty sure late 066 & ms660 do also IIRC.

A 046 I saw had an aluminum funnel that bolted onto the intake, so the foam wouldn't fit.

The part I was referring to is #12, often times it seems people remove them thinking they are not a necessary part.

I have more 046/460/461 that came to me with them MIA, then ones that still had them present.

I believe those were an option available in Australia.

That explains that, I tried ordering those two items, a few years back at different dealers in the USA, I was told they did not even show those numbers in their system. I saw them on eBay once down under, but someone beat me to the buy it now.

It's odd you can get the Australia 460/046 muffler in the states, but not that filter.
