Maybe your just using the wrong 461. Lol
We're you running .325 or 3/8?
3/8. It’s not even ported... . Just a muffler mod and timing advance. Not the same bar and chain but a rough comparison. My 360 would give that 562 a run for its money
First ported chainsaw I ran was a MM562. I came away with the same impression... SMOOOTH!Just had time to run about 1/2 tank thru her.
the 562 is SMOOTH! Now I know it’s got better spring AV but the saw all the way around is balanced very well and just feels good.
+1 on this.Probably the same goes for many saws. Bigger saws run stronger with bigger bars. Smaller saws with shorter bars run faster than bigger saws with shorter bars.
Maybe not a 60cc but i think they are trying to kill two birds with the 462.Stihl has yet to make a saw that'll compete with the 562, so there's really no other option unless you prefer the color red.
I have just what your looking for let me know when your readyNice saw bud! And no worries about trying something new. I'm sitting here a die hard Hoosky man thinking I'd like to get myself an 024 to try out. Like my brother said above, a good saw is a good saw and sometimes a manufacturer hits a home run. Granted, I don't know if I'd say the 562 is a home run in the strictest sense, they did have some issues to iron out, we all know that. But if we are talking about performance and operation, yeah, I could see that as pretty close to a dinger.
Oh and before I get PMs about an 024 for sale, I can't buy another saw right now. Lol!
Last time I went to the darkside, I owned a 575xp and after 10hours the crank went out and took the jug with it. I looked at my wife, and said that's the last time.No need to go to the dark side Chris. Lol
575’s are known for that, 576 they resolved that problem. 395 will open a stihl guy’s eyes.Last time I went to the darkside, I owned a 575xp and after 10hours the crank went out and took the jug with it. I looked at my wife, and said that's the last time.
One bitten, twice shy.
An intervention is in order.Just had time to run about 1/2 tank thru her. Had to put some new clutch springs in my 461 so it was a good time to run them side by side. Not fair but I have been using my 461 as my primary saw for awhile and I’m a big fan.
That said the 562 is SMOOTH! Now I know it’s got better spring AV but the saw all the way around is balanced very well and just feels good.
I got my little cheap scale out just to see as the 562 is a smaller narrow saw but I wanted to see actuall numbers.
My 461r with a Sugi 24 topped off is 21Lbs.
The 562 with 20” Tsumura topped off is 17 Lbs.
4 lbs is a pretty good difference. Now I’m not stupid enough to be comparing these out right, but the 562 may become my go to. Better Av, smooth, and plenty of saw to do what I need in a lighter platform. I used a 60cc saw to do everything for years until I found these sites and discovered a secret CAD problem.
We shall see.

Man that sucks you chose to try the "other brand" with that particular model. It had alot of bottom end problems. I attempted to repair one for a friend awhile back, won't do that again. Not worth the hassle and effortLast time I went to the darkside, I owned a 575xp and after 10hours the crank went out and took the jug with it. I looked at my wife, and said that's the last time.

I can’t tell the difference in weight between my 661/394/395...there all kind of heavy. 385/390 feel a tad lighter. It kinda comes down to what saw is running a lightweight bar and what one isn’t. I let him run Randy’s 395, he looked pretty suprised. I do wish I had a heated handle saw though....this winter was pretty cold.unless he has a 661....with heated handles.... or a back that isn't 18 years old
