I wouldn't call the PS-4600S a "little one" – this one and her bigger sister PS-5000 are fully grown-up adult saws IMHO.
I remember when I did use my first PS-5000 for the first time, previously having had a couple of 115i in the 50 cc class,
I was overwhelmed by the sheer power she offered and the speed she went through the timber. It felt like whole class above the 115.
Next thing I did was porting my 115i to make her catch up to the 5000 ...

I must admit that my Makita 520i has never done that reverse cold start/run. It's a great performer with only one exception: a slight oil leak when not running. I live with that. Here's a pic:

Finding parts to fix the oil leak has been tough, or should I say, next to impossible. So, I just drain the oil tank after each use.

I can relate to this. I have a few days of cutting to do over the weekend and I'm deliberately leaving the 7900 at home to force me into giving the 460 a run. I know if I have the 7900 I will just run that for everything.

I'd bring the 79'er along, just in case there is anything bigger that needs dismantling!

Testing some different chains on the dcs460. Fastest so far is 21plx. Best to use c85, holy crap it's square filed smooth and the little saw seems happy to pull it.

I usually fit 6 saws in my cars trunk, with basic required tools and oil and fuel, and I can fit two big girls in front of the back seat.
I tend to bring along saws to swap out, not chains.

I really can't understand why this little saw likes 3/8 so much. When I originally got bought it, it came with 73LPX and I swapped it over to 325 because I "knew" better than the people that made it.

17 years later I can confidently say I was wrong. It's amazingly powerful for 46cc. I must have done something right when I swapped it's piston and rings a few years back. I feel bad for leaving it on the shelf for so long.

You need another!
You'll cut twice as fast, twice as much wielding one in each hand.

The 460's & 4600's are to their 50cc siblings (otherwise same PH!) what the PS-7300/7310 are to the PS-7900/7910.
They are unrightfully overshadowed by their "stronger" siblings when in fact they excell in areas their siblings fall short.

The 460 was the first "real" saw I got after having a cheap piece of crap. Used it as my only saw for about 3 years then I bought a 7900. I was always a bit unhappy with the 460 because I really wanted a 5000 but couldn't afford it at the time. It only got used once or twice a year as I got more saws.

Now I forced my self to use it I remember that it's great saw. I only to heat a house and have some fun now so I think the little saw can get some more use. I'll park up the big ones for a while.

Still can't believe it prefers the c85 over 325. 46cc really shouldn't handle it so well.
