how do you access the software?
There was a link on husky website that was shared last year. It was a windows executable, a setup file for the husqvarna software. I can only imagine that it was meant for their field techs that didn’t have access. I say this because it was literally the software for the pc requiring no login. It was not web or online based at all.
You had all the standard options except for updating the firmware, there is the option for selecting a firmware update file, but there were none that I could find for download.
You could run the software connect an auto tune saw and do the diagnostics, see the runtime and put in shop notes, that was about it.
It was a neat novelty at the time, to defy the ones that said it was impossible without a dealer login lol. But without access to firmware files it makes it pretty useless.
In the end I realized that there are a lot of dealers that post here and some people who don’t want you to have what they have. A way to make money off of people who just want to update their saws without seeing a dealer. It’s all horse *s-word and I’m still bitter about it but you will find no help regarding firmware or getting the software if you post here.

Another right to repair down the tubes because of greed.

I had hoped by now that some kid in his parents basement in Germany with a computer had extracted firmware files from already updated saws, but a pipe dream is all that is lol. The kids these days in Germany don’t care too much about chainsaws I guess ;)

*edit*I will say that this new Bluetooth module for the 592 seems promising with the ability to update your saw wirelessly? But I haven’t heard any details on this, if someone has facts please share!!!!

Ran about 10 -15 tanks threw my 592 with 32” Oregon light weight bar switched over to 28 “ seems the the power and performance likes the 28 but is getting stronger with more run time no issues so far running very good in the hardwood

Not sure what you’re expecting out of it, I’ve ran 28,32,&36 on mine and I’ve never felt it was lacking in the power department. I’ve had an 8 pin on it since I got it with a muffler mod. I’ve been cutting Ash,Oak,Maple,& Hickory. It’s the first saw I’ve had that I really don’t see the need for porting. I’ve ran about 20 tanks of fuel through it

Just the balance and performance seems better unless ur using it for larger timber were a 32 is needed but like I said only had so many tanks so far, but yea don’t see gains in porting this model compared to others

I like mine with the 32 on it for most cutting unless I got something real big. It’ll wear a 32 most of the time. It balances well and handles nicely with it.

I never cut with it before I modded it. I started it and didn’t like how it sounded so I just put one of my pipes in it right away. So I honestly can’t say if or how much it helped

Somewhere Shaun had posted how much he gained with the muffler mod, thought it was around 10%

I don’t know where that rumor started about not seeing the gains with this model. Shaun‘s stock cuts were only a little bit slower but the log was frozen by the time it was ported. My results of my own testing showed about 25% faster cut times, but I ported 3 saws in between there and ran the same bar and chain in the same log without sharpening. I’m sure Shaun’s results would’ve showed the same thing had his test log not been frozen for the ported videos. Frozen hardwood easily adds 20 to 30% onto the cut times

I also had made a lot of cuts with the chain by the time I got around to testing the ported 592.

Good to know, might change my thinking on porting it then

Safe to say a 585/592 is a good upgrade from a 390xp? I know they haven't been out long so it's tough to say about longevity. 390xp has been out for some time. And a simple saw at that.

Yeah so far from what I have personally experienced the gains from porting a 592 would be worth it. If I owned one I’d be getting it ported. Period!
Have you run a few different ported and stock ones?

Yes… However, with a tree monkey flat top 066, a SCARR 395 stroker, and a few ported 7900s I can’t see buying a 592 any time soon though. If I did it would be ported.
