I have no clue how or why this happened?
Only thing I can figure is that I missed a fracture when I took the original apart.
Aluminum has no known service life expectancy. So it can fail at any time. A friend of mine who’s a mechanical engineer explained it to me once. Basically for most aluminum pistons, they last for years of service before finally fatiguing. But there always exceptions. Same with bearings.. Anyway, great save!

Here's my couple of Stihls.

Early 064 with all original parts (except for reproduction tags, meteor piston, elastostart, and bottom plate guard). Also, I have the original shallow fuel/oil caps, but the o-rings are shot. Does anyone have a part number for the flat o-rings for early 064's?

Excellent 026 that looks like it just came off the shelf in 1997.

Does anyone have a part number for the flat o-rings for early 064's? Or a source? Can't figure out what is what. Big fuel cap and medium oil cap.

I have a 2012 (if I remember correctly) MS261 with non-Mtronic and unlimited carb. Runs and cuts great, but I'm an Echo guy at heart and I'm leaning towards selling it in favor of a CS-501P. Then I could use the same b/c and most other parts as my CS-500P. Looks like it would go for $3-400 on Fleabay, but I would make a better deal for someone on OPEforum. Just thinking out loud here.

I am in the position to buy a new MS 462 with a regular carb. It will have to come from South America.

The price compared to the Mtronic versions is quite a bit lower. But compared to a new Husqvarna 327 XP OE it is more expensive.
I already have too many saws. Would it be a smart move to buy one?

Whats this "too many saws" you speak of? Is that like the mythical "too many guns" or "too many guitars" that our wives tell us when they are jealous of our epic collections?

Buy it.... the 04x/ms4xx platform is a very nice saw to run... i love my old ported 044...

I just got a new 241 and like most new springer saws I like how smooth they are but I'm not crazy about how springy some of them are..if that makes sense.

The rubber bits in WCS suspension kits fit in most stihl saws.

I just put these from a 462 kit in a 241, smooth but more of a firm feel, I can line my cuts up better with the saw on it's side.

So what's the low down on the MS-194T? I like the way they look and feel, would it be at least as good as my Echo CS-303T? 90% of my sawing is with my 30 and 40cc saws so I'm going to focus on those.

This sounds strange, but if anybody has an MS-260 to spare I would be very happy to swap it for the MS-261 I have in the chainsaws for sale section. I've just always really liked the 260.

Stock, they are a bit of a dog, if you muffler mod and do a timing advance they cut on par with a ms201t, without the harness and solenoid issues... mine pulls a 14" full chisel pretty good, which stock would bog it right out...
