I have 020 av and the avp rear handle several of both. They aren’t as bad as a super 2 to work on but take some time to figure out how to get apart. Pretty fast at them now though.

Danged 020 av top handle you have to deshell it to do anything to it .About like carving a turtle out of its shell .Dang thing used slotted head screws .Mine needs a carb refresh .When I do every slotted head screw will get replaced with a torx head .I had it apart several years ago to replace the seals and should have done it then .

Some not all of mine are newer and hav Torx heads. If you ever need a part for one let me know, think I have close to 20 of them both style handles. One of each as runners. Need a super version later you would think having that many I’d have one but they all look like standard ones.

If you ever decide to tear into that 110 this video will save you an enormous amount of aggravation. I think the dislike for these saws stems from guys trying every which way but the right way to tear one apart. Pretty simple, really. All of em are pretty much the same except the PM6.

Any significance in the fact that Dueling Banjo's is playing in the background on the radio when he's putting it back together?

I was refering to the old style Stihl o20 av top handle not the 020T or Ms 200T style .Of the later Ms 200T I have two and one 020 Av .The 020T and 200T are by far the easiest Stihl models I've ever worked on and I've done a fair share of that for others .
My two more modern have given me no problems .I did tear one down and added some soup. Other than that no work to speak of . They were so good they stopped making them, that kind of sucks .:(

Yeah I was talking about the 70-80’s models also of the 020av and avp with the black plastic back handle that bolted on in place of the top handle. Yes they are a pain to work on but not so much anymore since I’ve done a bunch and for some reason I like them.

I have worked on quite a few 020t and ms200t’s for a friends tree service. I like them very much he has 6 of them. He doesn’t climb as much anymore and runs the 200’s out of a basket truck. His kid has taken over the climbing duties more and his first choice is the 193t that I advanced the timing and muffler modded. Only time a 200 go’s up with him is if it’s a large limbed tree. He’s got 2 seasons on the 193. One before modding and one after they bought a 2nd one and he’s having me mod it next week.

My Mcculloch 7-10 came in today, it looks good and has good compression. I need a clutch cover and a lower rear handle.

They always seem like the unsung hero of flush cutting to me. Just lay em on the ground, get em started in the cut, let em chug away.

I think when I’m cutting I’d be way to impatient to have a 24-28” on a 60cc class saw. It will keep the 20” and if I need longer the 25” 064 or 33” on my 075 will come out
