I should have said improperly fastened instead of faulty because that's what I was thinking. I was basing this private detective work on the grime and crud all over the crank itself.These 261 have about the best filtration I've seen. And.....the filter was good. Nice soft rubber seal.
That's an understatement about getting the clutch off!
