If I’m taking this to Randy’s, I better order some of that stuff from Canada. Prolly the enhanced airflow system and that turbo “clutching” system. Dave don’t tell anybody.......but I’m gonna use some of those ceramic bearings in the muffler. I’ll be a shoe in to win

Dang it. Out of time. Need to clean up and head to a family dinner. I’ll have to do some test cuts tomorrow.

We’ll see how it breathes. There really isn’t anymore room to open up the lowers. I tried to keep it proportional to the smaller 665 jug and the porting pretty simple. Why mess with a great design. I ain’t got no PhD in this. Carb is the factory Walbro. I’ve got a Tilly on the way. I used a tapered wrist pin to keep the weight down. I’ll play with that when it gets here

Fired it up this morning and something wasn’t quite right. Only spit gas under pressure. Was sucking plenty of air tho.

Time to set it down for a minute. Saw runs like crap. I did a pressure and vac test. It Would hold 7psi and not budge. It would only hold 4in vac. I'd pump it up to 5 and it would fall and hold at 4. This saw will not idle for squat. Sounds like an ms460 I did a couple of years ago. I Hogged out the intake too much. This hybrid Sounds the same, real flat and has no "pop" to her when i can get it to idle. I did not put a tach to it but i cant get it below about 3500rpm (clutch is not engaging).

I do need to find my vac leak. IIRC the saw pulls more vac at low speed and pressure at high speed. I cant remember if it was Kevin or Steve that did the inline gauge while the saw was running. Cool stuff. I did swap carbs from a low hour 7910. Same results. Before the top end swap the saw would idle and rev fine. Occasionally it would hesitate off idle and sputter on the way up to WOT. I cranked (crunk) it up Wednesday and it ran, idled, and piss reved just fine

Sooooo, is this all vacuum related or have i opened up the intake and transfers too much.

It’s hard to tell by the pics but that’s chatter marks in the cylinder. Crank is fine. Something is out of tolerance in the jug or piston

Finally got some time to put this on the lathe. I had a 461 to do as well.
China at its finest. This was a new west kit. Hopefully this cures it. Still shaking my head why I didn’t buy OEM.
