My wisdom teeth were impacted .At the insistance of a nagging wife at the time I tried to get them out .They only got 1 out of 4 that time .Fast forward 30 years .A lady dentist snatched them right out slick as a whistle with just novocane .Giant teeth the size of a horse .I don't know why they call them "wisdom " . Nothing smart about them .

Tried to punch through my neglected property tractor access trail, and failed due to too much vegetation swallowing it up.
This is the entrance, I will not widen it so it remains "hidden".

This is what awaited me.
IMG_20230818_132953.jpg

Had to clear some storm damage blocking the trail.

This is how deep in I got, it is a fairly long trail.
I need to cut clear the remaining section and remove all the branches.

Sup Darren?
Gday Randy I've been in a very dark place with Illness for a while here in au we call it the black dog .
I'm just about on top of it even though I don't have a lo g future but I am now determined to make the best of the time I have .
Anyway I have started to get out and about with the help of my two fantastic sons I am blessed that way .
I went out and watched my eldest and his mate cut some wood a while ago I will post up some pics in a thread soon .
Did I say I love the smell of 2 stroke .

Cheers Darren

Sorry to hear the sad news. I wish you the best.

Did some crude milling today (have not done any in a long time) with my Beam Machine and my Asian 660 (Flying Tiger) that dynoed at 8.6 Hp.

The ported 660 with square file chain mills a lot faster than when I built my cabin and milled with a stock 441 and round file chain! Good thing, as I'm not as young anymore!

I plan to build a Treestand with the milled Red Oak (16' long). I will rip the two sides in half for the 4 legs, and mill the 6" wide center into boards for the platform. I plan to put the platform at 12' and have 4' high railings.

Taking a break in the action right now . Still working on that giganric old oak log .Danged rounds are so heavy I have to quarter them to get them in the splitter .I mean after all I'm not a spring chicken any more .I wish in a way I had the strength that guy had in my avatar but that was over 15 years ago .Add that to the lose of 40 pounds which was all muscle then .

I'd had that Red Oak log for several years, and most of the sap wood was rotten, along with some of the heartwood, but enough was good to build this stand!

The tree guy who gave it to me subsequently died when his bucket truck went over, and his helmet did not save him from the pavement. He was only 55 and a heck of a good guy. I used to fix his saws, I miss him! He had his business since he got out of HS and worked 7 days a week. Always pleasant, always good to talk to.

The log was 16'4" and 16" on the small end and 19" on the large end.
