The first time I used my 271t I did a lot of up cuts on the ground and the bar did creep down and over tightened the chain. So, I figured I'd center the bar so it won't get too loose or too tight on that saw.

Skip is generally used on bars longer than 20". Like 32 through 36" length. I am only trying to help. I personally think your saw will cut faster using full chisel, full comp chain when using a 20" 3/8 bar with a saw that size.
Just me. 20" chains sharpen pretty fast by hand for me.

So i shouldn't use skip on my 14" bars on 201s ?

I suppose if one was to do a short bar comparison between full comp and skip, both off the roll, they'd have slower cut times with skip. But a skip chain should be set up a little different with lower rakers. They can move.
