I send saws everywhere for real logging. I've had some saws fail after as little as 3 months, and some that live for many years. So much depends on the man pulling the trigger that it's hard to get feedback that truly pertains to the saw. I do see pro Stihl saws lasting longer in the woods than Huskys though.......

Zipping up my flame proof suit........NOW.

LMAO
I've always wondered about that. Which brand, one the average, is more dependable with Loggers. I have both brands but don't use them enough to probably ever find out.

I've got a ported NE 346 in the basement that has 30 minutes on it , what a waste !!

I offer an exclusive, patented, proven, tried and tested breaking-in service. Send that 346 to me, and when you get it back, I promise it will be fully broken in. PM me for prices and information. :)

Does the 357xp clutch system work on a 346xp? Thanks
Yes. There is a version of the 359/357 clutch with standard spline mount which can open up some sprocket options too. My memory doesn't recall the detail of which model though. Can't recall weight differences either I'm sorry.

So the clutch, drum , bearing from the 357 fit right onto the 346? That 3 spring clutch has to be better than the 2 band clutches on a 346?

I think the 357xp clutch could handle holding more torque than the 346xp clutch. The question is, does it need it? Even ported, does your 346 make enough power to cause the clutch to slip?

That's my memory, certainly wasn't complicated enough for me to remember any details (you always remember the ones that make you swear). I just wanted to run a standard spline (turned down 404 for 3/8lp).
If I had to choose - I'd choose the lightest clutch option. The heavier 3 spring might hold 1000rpm lower, but so what? I'm sure that is a mile below the most efficient rpm for cutting on any variation of 346.

This^^^ There is no need to use a 357 clutch on a 346 & the added weight might be a negative.

The 357 clutch does have the same threads as a 261......I've only ran a tank through it so far. But it seems to be working good so far.

I want to convert my 357 drum to a 346 drum for better options in .325 rims.
I saved this info from somewhere with the right part numbers for the worm gear that will work with the small spline drum.
