I got these pictures this week, shows a improved 545G. Husqvarna is trying to solve out the problems of the old construction, especially when you take a look of the distance between the case and the muffler for heat reduction. I don't have more information yet but I will keep you guys informed [emoji6]

Have some super fresh new Infos, it shares a lot of 572/565 design elements. New bearings, better heat reduction through a new muffler and cover design, filter is also improved like on the 565/572. But.... there's always a but.... the saw is nearly 400g/ 0,8lbs heavier now. It is more like a reconstruction than a refresh or facelift.

I'm okay with a little bit more weight if it means a better built more reliable saw.

I think initially when Husky first designed the 5 they were on a quest to make the most compact, light & best handling saws on the market which they achieved. Too many compromises were made which equated to reliability problems. Now that they know what don't work well, they are properly addressing these issues no band aid solutions like the shroud with holes in it but actual structural wholesale changes that along with version 3 AT will result in a dependable durable saw that provides true value to the pro user. Sadly it will gain a few lb, but that's not such a bad thing. Saw looks nice, a heat shield on case under muffler would help too.

Stephan; this is a huge scoop you got here. I'm surprised this thread hasn't been more active. Any chance we can get pics with the top cover off?

Some observations: Looks a lot like a mini 572 to me. Same type of muffler/large gap underneath. I'm sure there is a different air filter under that top cover. probably a smaller version of the 565 set up. The white material showing in the clutch side shot is the same heat shield stuff from the 572 as well.

One surprise is that is a different crankcase! Compare the pic of the front of the saw to any 545/550 and you'll see it right away. That casts a little doubt about whether or not these changes can be fitted to older models. There are no IPL's up yet on the dealer site, so we can't have a look at how many specific parts are involved.

Thanks for the info, Stephan!

Very interesting and unexpected that they went for a full redesign. I do love the current 545/550 for their handling and zip, best ergonomics of any saw I've used. If the redesign ("Mark II", apparently?) keeps that feeling despite the weight gain (and adds some durability and reliability) I'd consider replacing one of mine, but for this size saw I sure appreciate the current weight...
