I don’t see where a 67cc saw fits into the lineup.

The 462 doesn’t sound much bigger/heavier or much more pricey.

The “swirl” technology sounds like BS.

The “tinned” piston must be the Mag one, I guess.

The 362 sales will near come to a dead stop. Sounds like a nice saw, interesting how the charge is directed differently by each transfer port, good if its better than the old Shnurle style loop. At least Stihl are thinking & changing things up.

The conversation below is one I had with an Arctic customer last year. He had just returned a prototype 400 that he had been testing for Stihl. I have brought some of these details forward before but do it again here as there actually seems to be some movement on the availability of these saws.

By the way, what did you think of the 400? I’m assuming it will replace 362?

No I will not it is in it's own family and special use... it's Catered towards companies that do right of way clearing They tend to be overly abusive on units.... There is an extremely aggressive rev limiter that Allows the operator to basically Go 100% throttle all the time until it runs out of gas... It's also slightly bigger Displacement and will be reinforced with certain anti vibe elements that Cut down On kick back
Gary
Interesting. Makes sense as I have heard lots of powerline companies having issues with 261 and 362 burning up.

The prototype version I had was completely devoid of Any helpful insight as to its operation.... They also had used Indelible ink on all of the fasteners so I couldn't take anything apart
Gary
Bastards...

Yes that is what it is catered to but I did Notice that the coil could be switched quite easily.. From the sounds of it it's a real short stroke type of chainsaw just like the 661
It is real peaky and loves to Bang off of the limiter... It also uses the stupid tiny M10 thread plugs
Gary
Sounds like nothing I want. Whew!!!

Yea stick to the 362 ... It's obvious I use the 362 as a control to compare it to other units the 400 is a 362 with training wheels...
Gary
I’ll stick to my 261/ 462 2 saw plan for now. Hardly cut enough wood to justify either.

I mean when your employees arent and exactly model citizens and are strong out on Who knows what Illicit substance... They don't really need something that can do damage
Strung*
Yes allday long on the 261 462
Gary
Exactly what I was thinking, a saw you could hand an employee and as long as you provide the fuel they can’t *f-word it up.

Yep... Almost like the rubber bumpers at the bowling alley

Sounds like a good brush truck saw for the Fire Department. Goodness we have some guys that could break anything, even worse is the guy who thinks he can tune a saw and inevitably blows it up. Haha, win win

Put a firefighter alone in a room with 3 bowling balls. An hour later 1 is broken, 1 is missing and the last is pregnant and he doesn't know anything about any of them.
